THE HTML LANGUAGE . GENERAL NOTIONS.
The HTML language (hypertext markup language) provides a code for the structure and the decoding of a web page. It’s a declarative markup language that indicates which elements to present to the pages that will be displayed by the user. A hypertext offers the possibility to interconnect all contents in the web universe. The recent version used is HTML5 which defines the structure of a page autonomously and it manages many multimedia contents, such as audio, video and other interactive elements. The body that establishes the guidelines of web codes and their versions is the W3C: World Wide Web Consortium.
The most important elements:
<! DOCTYPE html>: a marker that tells the browser which HTML version to use.
<HTML lang = “it”>: it defines the type of language to be used.
<HEAD>: Title and a Style are inserted.
<BODY>: here you can insert numerous markers called tags, such as headers, paragraphs, links, images, audio, video and other elements like div and span that delimit the text.
<title> </ title>
<style> </ style>
<h1> </ h1>: header with larger size (there are other intermediate measures: h2, h3, h4, h5)
<h6> </ h6>: header with a smaller size
<p> </ p>: for paragraphs
<a href> </a>: for links
<img src />: for images
<div> </ div>: to contain more paragraphs and other elements

Each marker must be opened and closed with the exception of some markers called auto-exclusive tags, such as </ br> which indicates to the page when to wrap.
